I injured my right index finger somehow this weekend and have been unable to stitch. It also hurts to type. So, I just have flowers for today. It’s been overcast here for days which has lowered the temperatures. It’s nice, but I’d like to have more sun for the garden. Still, things are growing, tomatoes…

A weird week…

I don’t know what to say about this week, other than I have felt very strange. I really didn’t do any of my normal things. Perhaps it was time for a shift, a shift in perspective and habits. It did feel good to crochet, although working with two strands of heavy cotton yarn is hard…

Gardening and a recipe…

I’ve been feeling off this week. The general consensus is it’s allergies. Dust is really high on the allergy chart. That’s what we get for living in the wheat state. I haven’t gotten around to doing any actual stitching today, so no new photos. Just photos of the garden and an easy recipe to share….

Tired…room…and this basket has a story…

Sometimes I get so tired of feeling tired. Today is one of those days. Before I even woke up I was tired. I didn’t sleep well. And now that I have the ducks I can’t sleep late. I have to get up and let them out. Really, I should set an alarm, just in case….

How my garden grows…

I’ve been looking into more information about permaculture and ways of growing a garden without tilling, digging or watering. The way I’m doing things now is for the birds, way too labor intensive. Nature grows easily if you work with it. I am enjoying some results. The sunflowers look amazing and so beautiful after first…

Waiting…

I’m sitting here waiting for my father-in-law to come start my car. The battery has died. I knew better than to keep driving it so seldom for short trips. I was too lazy last time I drove it to keep driving for 20 minutes to charge up the battery. I wanted to run errands before…

Progress!

I’m happy to report today – actually tonight – I have made progress in the studio! The main progress being the much-needed addition of a proper chair in which to work. For comparison’s sake, here is the chair I had been using… Not much to look at, is it? It wasn’t the worst chair I’ve…

Fabrics I Have Been…

I spent three hours working in the garden this morning, even though I thought last night there wouldn’t be much to do. Things are looking really nice. More Velvet Queens… I’m pretty sure this is a 6 foot fence. You can see how tall the sunflowers are getting. It says a lot for the benefits…

A missed day…

I didn’t get anything posted Friday because I was upstairs working on this… I think it turned out really cute… I think it’s quilter’s cotton. I got it to go with another fabric which I had intended to turn into a 25-yard belly dancing skirt. I’ll never make another of those skirts again. Too many…

The happy cat…

I wish that title was about having found a new home for one of the kittens, but, alas, they are all still here. There’s no room in the inn, so to speak. After making a number of attempts to take the kittens to the shelter, including a for-sure appointment last week, we were turned down…

July and stuff…

So, we’re well into… I noticed yesterday I hadn’t even registered the new calendar photo for the month. It’s like I was seeing it for the first time. Weird. In the back yard some of the sunflower plants are a good two feet over my head, most still not flowering yet. However, I did notice…

Just a bit…

Is it the lazy, hazy days of summer that are making me so sleepy? I was busy today, except for another mid-day nap. Naps are unusual for me, but I think I feel better because of resting more. Could be the hot humid mornings getting to me when I’m out doing chores. I’ve been working…
