Quiet reflection…

Being sick is a good time for some quiet reflection. Here are some flowers I purchased last month. Half price at the store. Lovely. The people in my life seem to have left me alone to heal, checking on me now and again, but mostly leaving me to recover from my misery. Sinus infection? Cold?…

What is my work about?

Honestly, I don’t really know what my work is about. I just like to sew. It’s my meditation. I like how I can quietly slip away while stitching, even when I feel like I don’t have a direction or a purpose or a plan or that my stitches really mean something. I stitch because it’s…

Catching up…

Last month we were back in Hot Springs, Arkansas. We really love it there. We tend to go for the weekend, which is a bit of a stretch as it takes 6 hours to drive there, but it’s always worth it. This time we stayed in a lovely loft on Bathhouse Row which was furnished…

Sort of here…

I’m finally making it back to post a few photos. My life has become very tumultuous of late. Few of the details are germane to this blog, so I will have to keep most of them to myself. The garden has changed quite a bit, mostly fading with production largely coming to a halt. This…

Perspective…

About an inch long. Found it stuck to my shoe or something. From what plant did this come? It’s like a miniature sunflower. I don’t have a lot to say today. I thought I’d let the pictures do most of the talking. The Glen of Cosmos, located next to the Sunflower Forest, has begun blooming….

Tulsa…

We had plans to go to Kansas City over the weekend, but they got cancelled. Then we thought maybe Hot Springs. We really want to go back. But it was hot as balz there, hotter than here, and expensive. It’s an expensive destination anyway, but we couldn’t justify the expense or the drive for just…

Summertime…

Summer seems to be clicking right along. I am out in the garden a lot in the mornings. I know I keep saying that. But each day is new with different things growing and flourishing. Yesterday I got all the duck water changed again. It is hard work. But the algae grows so quickly, I…

Dirty…

Hello! I love the garden, but it’s dirty work. Every morning it doesn’t rain I go out and do the watering, tying, rearranging, etc… By the time I’m finished I’m so sweaty I can literally ring the water out of my shirt. A subsequent shower is a must. And it’s too hot to wear shoes….

First blooms…

I have so many E!E!E! I’m so excited!¬†things happening in the garden! Like the first sunflower blooms. They make me oh so happy. I feel like I’ve been waiting and waiting… Technically, this is the second bloom… The first bloom is pointed towards the neighbors…hmph! These are velvet queens. The neighbors could have had sunflowers…

The weather is FAB…

Rain a couple days ago and now the weather is so FABulous! I should be outside enjoying it some more, but I’m tired from my morning’s gardening work and itching to go upstairs and stitch. Every time we get a rain it seems like the garden just explodes. I was surprised to see how much…
