Flowers in a Vase…

The days seem to fly by, even in winter. I wrote the previous post several days ago and never got around to publishing it. I was a little run down for a few days, but am better, so am back to more regular tasks, I guess. I’ve been watching Mildred Pierce starring Kate Winslet. It’s…

A Sea of Geese…

Was it yesterday I saw the geese? I can’t remember. One day flows into the next, and I find I have a hard time tracking what happened when. Maybe it’s the change in temperature. Yesterday it was at or near 60 degrees. Today it’s lightly snowing and everything’s frozen again. I had to haul water…

Just words…

It looks like it has been 10 days since I last posted. I have been busy with travels, then leaf raking and fall activities… But I’m also back to working on my book, or books, as I think this work will be a trilogy. I have had lots of challenges of late, ups and downs,…

Here, but not…

I’ve decided to take a little break… So, I’m here, but not… Back next week…

The perfect swim…

Last night, after temps reached 95 degrees and it was cooling down, H and I chilled out in the pool. Finally, after days of the wind blowing like crazy, there was no wind, just a gentle breeze, and the water temperature was finally perfect, no longer chilly. I was in there for 2 hours! It was…

Aging and honesty…

Jude was talking recently about how she is aging, how she sees it. I am on the tail end of my 40s, which is really hard for me to believe. There’s a birthday this month. My 40s were where I really started noticing how I was aging, although a lot of things started going off when…

It’s getting hot in here…

Temperatures have reached the 90s this week. Great pool weather! Which reminds me I need to get an updated pic of the pool to send you. We really like our little arrangement. H said he sits at works and dreams about being in the pool. The flowers are coming along, a bit too slowly for…

A story, a path…

This feels like a story… It feels like a story on a path I’m following… The stitches for each little patch just pop into my head effortlessly… Why is that? Why is this so easy?   I don’t know, but it certainly is fun… I want to keep going, just keep making these… Maybe I…

This morning’s garden…

I got an early start today, which was great, and went out to work in the garden for a couple of hours. Here are the red mums that are so big now, at least three times as big as they were when they were flowering in a pot last fall and more button sized… We…

Endearing…or Inappropriate?

When I visited my Mom Sunday she gave me these tea towels… She said she didn’t want to use them because she didn’t want to be inappropriate… And then she followed that by talking about someone she knows and then saying something inappropriate…oh well. The pictures are really cute, and the stitching is nicely done….

Thrift…

Here’s a beautiful picture of the neighbor’s tree that I took in the fall and never used here… Isn’t it just gorgeous? We don’t have any trees in our yard, except for one little redbud which is aging and losing a lot of branches…or is that just all the junk in our environment causing that…

Some finish work…

Sort of. Finish work is usually what you do to finalize a project…edging, stitching a piece into something like a bag. H bought me The Textures of Home for Valentine’s Day in February. It’s a piece by Hazel Monte. It’s been sitting on my old Singer sewing machine/vanity ever since then. Every morning I would eyeball it, trying…
